My Maple Leaf Wishlist

So after reading endless posts about the leafs, and who they could get for our captain...I thought i would just put up a list of players i would love to see in a leaf jersey once the trade deadline passes. I am not an NHL GM and find myself unqualified to be planning trades, but here are some players i believe the leafs could get their hands on with the right moves by Mr. Fletcher.

Dustin Boyd - Looks like a great young prospect capable of playing both Center and Wing.

Devin Setoguchi - The leafs have lacked speed for so long, and from what i understand this guy can really move and plays both wings, he would be a real nice addition to the leafs.

Jeff Carter - Flyer fans are going to freak, but this guy looks like the real deal. Large, Mobile center that would fill the hole once Mats is gone. The only reason i think he could be had by the leafs is because he is being buried on a very good Philadelphia team, that are looking to make a big push into the playoffs this year. The also have the depth in their farm system to give up Carter.

Michael Cammalleri - I'm shooting for the moon now, but he's from Richmond Hill. Maybe he wants to return home to revive a broken leafs team. Speed, but a pure goal scorer...something we haven't seen in Toronto for a long time. Mark my words, the Kings are going to be scary good very soon, and with the depth they have they could afford to loose a forward and add some depth and veteran presence at defense.

Fabian Brunnstrom - We can promise him lots of playing time (perhaps something that other teams can't offer) i guess there is always an outside chance...

Nikolai Kulemin - The most realistic option on the list is seeing one of our own in a leafs jersey. Why not, we have nothing else to lose...Bring the kid over from Russia and let's see what he is made of. Is he the player everyone is saying he is? Or just another over hyped maple leaf prospect.

The first overall pick in the 2008 entry draft. - Nothing like the first overall pick to really get fans and players excited for next season.

A source close to Cammelleri has told he wants to play for the leafs and if no through trade i really do see him approach the Leafs once he is a UFA!!I also think Carter ideal to lead the Leafs into the next century as Captain and leader... I think it would tak Kaberle to do it.... what are your thoughts...would you move Kabs for Carter ???I think the Leafs have an opportunity here to pull a fkyers and have a major retool... but somethings need to go our way...like.. Brunnstrom choosing us and Kulemin living the hype and Carter or Cammelleri in a trade!!!

Sorry, I forgot to add that adding stamkos or one of the great youing d's in the draft to fill the void left by Kabs would also help!!

Works for me. Nice list.Supposedly what's said about Cammalleri is true that he wants to play for the Leafs. Why wouldn't a good Jewish boy from Richmond Hill want to play for the Leafs....

Actually, what's funny about the Cammalleri thing is this info I picked up from hockeydb.com: "2001-Mar-13 Draft pick rights traded from Toronto Maple Leafs with Adam Mair to Los Angeles Kings for Aki-Petteri Berg"

I would hate to move Kabby, but if Carter was coming back the other way it would probably make me feel a whole lot better about the situation. I think the leafs should hold on to him, he is the one solid piece of the club that isn't overpaid, plus i'm not sure that he would waive his no trade clause. I would be interested to see what kind of package people think would get Cammelleri to Toronto. I think the kings should be going after Defense and with their young core they could probably take on a large contract much like a McCabe or a Kubina....But they would probably want something else as well

I've heard McCabe to Los Angeles rumours, but I would think McCabe's value would be higher in the off-season with less contract remaining and some strong play late season to his name.
