Mr. Pegula should take note on the recent news that True North will NOT retain Rick Dudley as their GM.
I truely believe Duds would be a great asset to the Sabres Organization. He has ties to the community as a former player & coach. He also still resides in the area. But the ties to the oraganization is not the main reason to hire him. Here are just a few reasons he should be added to the front office as: Assistant GM, Special Advisor or whatever title would be fitting.
1. In each of his seasons in the front office of: Thrashers, Blackhawks, Senators, Lightning & Panthers the team has improved its record from the prior season.
2. He helped build the Blackhawks Cup Winning team by helping the club acquire the likes of Toews, Kane, Campbell & Sharp.
3. He also helped build the Lightnings Cup Winning team with helping add the likes of Andreychuk, Boyle, St. Louis & Khabibulin.
Basically the guy has a knack for building winners. That should be enough!

Dudley is a darn good GM. When he was here in Detroit as GM of the now defunct Detroit Vipers, he always seemed to bring in the right mix of players and they were very competitive and they ended up winning the IHL Turner Cup in 1997. The guy does good things wherever he goes.
