Oilers Defensive and Powerplay Woes Continue

After watching the last few Oiler games on their trip in California, I have noticed that their powerplay and defence are looking a little "rusty". The Oilers are 0 for 38 in their last 11 games on the powerplay including an aweful 0 for 4 tonight in Anaheim, I am pulling my hair out everytime I watch this powerplay hit the ice they need to get more shots on net instead of trying to make a fancy play. As for the Oilers back end it has struggled of late, and yes they do have a young team and fans need patience but eventually those patience run out and something needs to give. I understand the Oilers have lost their key defencemen Ryan Whitney for an extended period of time and possibly the season and right there might be the reason for our recent struggle but the young kids like Petry, Chorney and Peckhan need to step up and try to fill the shoes. Tom Gilbert has been a big disappointment in my eyes this season, and has not reached his full potential he as been making some horrible defensive plays in the last few weeks, hopfully things take a turn for the better. With the deadline vastly approaching I think it is in the Oilers best interest to try and search for a veteren defenceman, maybe Kevin Bieksa?? With this horrible California road trip behind them they can now return home to try and turn their fortunes around.
