The Red Wings have come on strong in the last five games. They have actually played the puck possession game and dominated opponents. Their sluggish start to the season left me a little worried, but they have gelled, switched up lines to increase offense production, and played the solid defensive game that Detroit is known for.
I am enthused to see the recent resurgence of Juri Hudler. Let's hope he can keep it up. He was on the bubble with Babcock, and I'd like to see him perform without the pressure of having to spend a night in the press box. He can play on any line from 1 to 4, but he has to want to play and do the job wherever he lands.
Bertuzzi has been a great addition to the lineup in Detroit. He was always an offensive force, he is a defensive one too. "Bert" has added a dimension to the Wings lineup that was missing since Shanahan left....the winger with toughness, grit, and the determination to go to the net. The Eurotwins can captivate with their skating and puck handling, but Bertuzzi plays tough and goes hard to the net every time.
I'm off to Europe for a week, and unfortunately the non-hockey part (Spain). I'll check back in after the last 3 games of the Red Wings home stand.
