Relax, this is just a little trick I picked up in Colorado. In what could be the oddest news of the opening day of NHL free agency, the Avalanche and the Islanders have both signed Matt Carkner. Unfortunately, Gary Bettman has ruled that two teams cannot share a player, and since Matt Carkner only actually signed with New York, they get him. An interesting tactic, though, these guys spend 82 games a season (potentially more, unless of course, you play for the Avalanche or Islanders) getting beat up rather consistently, so if you just start announcing signings, maybe you can get them in a jersey before anyone’s the wiser.
