With a little over 10 million left for the Avalanche cap space, Colorado continues to sign players even as they wait to sign pending contracts with Ryan O'Reilly, Tyson Barrie, Stefan Elliott, Joey Hishon and a few others.
Today Colorado announced they have signed 27 year old Defensemen Maxim Noreau to a 2 year 1-way contract at $1.25 million - $625k per season.
Noreau, undrafted, was signed by the Minnesota Wild in May 2008 - Noreau appeared in 6 games between 2008 and 2011 for Minnesota posting 0 points and a -1. After sustaining a concussion in his 2010-11 season, Noreau was traded to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for David McIntyre. Noreau did not play in the NHL for New Jersey.
Since 2010-11 Maxim has played three seasons with the HC Ambri-Piotta-Swiss - in 124 games he has 25 goals 64 assists for 89 points in the regular season and 18 playoff games where he generated 2 goals 11 assists for 13 points (Not including any postseason points recorded in 2014.)

I think this is more of a sign that Guenin and Wilson are done. Wilson will be waived or bought out on waivers. Guenin can be sent down to the AHL. Duchene on twitter seems pumped about this, so lets see how he plays.Stuart JohnsonHejda BarrieHolden Redmond/Noreau/Elliot
