On one team there is a big question mark on who should be their starting goaltender and the other it is a no brainer. The Detroit Red Wings have put playoff rookie Petr Mrazek (.918Sv%, 2.38GAA) in net for game 1 of the season instead of veteran Jimmy Howard (.910Sv%, 2.44GAA). In the Tampa Bay Lightning net it won’t be difficult to decide who to play. Ben Bishop (.916Sv%, 2.32GAA) has been good this season. The Lightning got swept last season in the first round by the Montreal Canadiens. Bishop did not play in this series because of injury and was one the reasons for them getting swept. The Lightning finished with 108 points two behind Atlantic division winner Montreal Canadiens.
The Lightning should be able to win the series without losing many games but won’t find it easy to win the games. Game 1 will go to the Lightning in a rout with Stamkos leading the way with a pair of goals. The Red Wings will keep Mrazek in net and he will have a much better game but the Red Wings will still no do enough offensively to beat the Lightning. Game 3 will be a very low scoring game with the Lightning nicking the game in overtime. In game 4 the Lightning will be unable to do what the Canadiens did to them last season with Pavel Datsyuk leading the way with 3 points. The Red Wings hopes will be ended in game 5 by the Lightning with them being shut down offensively scoring only one goal.
