DeAngelo trade? Perfetti making NHL debut? (Repost)

The Winnipeg Jets have a good problem, their center core looking better than in previous years. Little could've fulfilled that 2nd line center role, but he, unfortunately, was injured. The Jets lost Bryan Little to injury and Cody Eakin to free agency, the Jets have been searching for that 2nd line center for a while now. With the dust finally settling, Maurice now has three centermen with the first-line potential, Scheifele, Dubois, and Perfetti. Dubois is still being quarantined before he can make his Jets debut, Perfetti still has yet to make an appearance on the roster. Maybe Saturday's game against Vancouver, head coach Paul Maurice may decide to see if Perfetti can play an NHL role.
If Perfetti develops quicker than expected, the Winnipeg Jets have a good problem as I previously mentioned. Maurice would have 5 centermen to plug in his first 3 lines, this would also allow the Jets to keep the Lowry/Copp/Ehlers tandem that was great against Edmonton. A forward core with Perfetti and Dubois could possibly look like;
Connor - Scheifele - Wheeler
Stastny - Dubois - Perfetti
Copp - Lowry - Ehlers
Harkins - Appleton - Lewis
This is my first guess at what the Jets could do, you can easily plug a centerman at the wing. Maurice may put Perfetti to the ultimate test and put him at center to see where his development currently is. We'll see if Perfetti comes off of the Jets taxi squad and gets entered into the lineup on Saturday against Vancouver.
Let's move on trade rumors about DeAngelo, the New York Rangers have a defense pool that is fairly deep. The right-side currently consists of Trouba, DeAngelo, and Fox. Somewhere down the line, the Rangers will have to add right-side defenseman Nils Lundkvist and Braden Schneider who are currently on the reserve list. Either the Rangers will have to move someone to the left side, or they will have to trade someone. The first person the Rangers may be looking to move is Anthony DeAngelo, here's why; DeAngelo was a healthy scratch this season after a poor performance with Jack Johnson. DeAngelo was also de-platformed off of Twitter for his political beliefs. As we saw last season, DeAngelo can put up points, he had 53 points in 68 games played, this season, however, is a massively different story. The Rangers trading DeAngelo wouldn't shock me as the club has a record of trading decent defenseman, case in point Neal Pionk. Another factor that could lead the Rangers to trade DeAngelo is his performance playing only four games out of six, being a minus five, and taking poor penalties. The Rangers are also going to have major cap problems coming in the next three years, Buchnevich has arbitration rights coming up, Kakko is due a new contact in three years, and Lafreniere is due in three. Buchnevich will be in the ballpark of $4-$5 million, while Lafreniere and Kakko will want upwards of $8 million. We all know the cap is staying flat for the foreseeable future, the Rangers are going to have a Maple Leafs type cap situation on their hands. The only way the Rangers can keep all of their talents is if guys are willing to take bridge deals.
With all of that out of the way, the only possible landing points I can see are; Pittsburgh, Boston, Detroit, New Jersey, LA, and Ottawa. There is no doubt with the current cap situation the Rangers would have to retain some cap space in a trade in the right scenario. The Rangers also do not want to lower the value of DeAngelo more than it already has. DeAngelo needs a change of scenery before relations with the Rangers sour and the Rangers need to move on from the DeAngelo project.
