Period 1
The first and only goal of the first period came from the most unlikely source; The thick hearty mustache of George Parros. A tip pass came right to his stick from Brad May and he buried it behind Curtis Sanford.
Ryan Shannon was making his presence felt against his old team. He had a few quality shots and some timely passes to linemate Mason Raymond. He played the point on the power play and looked right at home alongside Kevin Bieksa.
Josef Balej had the pleasure of starting the game with the Sedins and he did not waste his oppertunity. He had quite a few quality chances 5 on 5 and on the power play.
The blur on the ice wasn't your eyes it was Mason Raymond. The kid looked great on the ice with Byron Ritchie and Ryan Shannon. He almost had two goals in the first period alone. He showed great vision with a few outlit passes from his own end. The future is looking good for the Canucks.
It wasn't all good. The Canucks power play had some chances, but suffered from the same thing as did the power play from the regular season. To many passes not enough shots. The Sedins made some good passes but little resulted.
Period 2
The mustached one known as Parros might not have put in the second goal but he deffiantly helped. P. Wirtanen shoveled it in to make it 2-0.
A little misscue occured when on the power play the Canucks only had four players on the ice. For a good 25 seconds the Canucks played 4 on 4. And as Shorthouse put it "Its the preseason for everyone."
Even though Curtis Sanford let in two Ducks goals, he looked very sharp. Stopping some pucks that were labeled for the back of the net. Drew Macintyre replaced him halfway through the second.
The first real scrap came from Alexander Burrows taking on the larger Ryan Getzlaf. He held his own with the jersey over his head, but i'd give the nod to Getzlaf who landed an uppercut at the end.
Defensivley, Willie Mitchell and Kevin Bieksa were very solid. Luc Bourdon looked a little tenative, but settled down after a shakey first period. Edler looked solid, but took some chincy penalties that hurt the team.
If these two periods are any indication Ryan Shannon will be a regular on the Canucks roster this season. He had a ton of chances on the power play on the point and playing with Mason Raymond 5 on 5 have set some nice plays. He also set up the only Canucks goal so far.
