Training Camp Day One

Posted 12:18 PM ET | Comments 4
Day one of training camp was focused on one thing. The thing the Canucks are in need of the most. Offence. Both Jannik Hansen and Jason Jaffary scored beautiful goals on the first day. Begging the question; Who will get the start on opening night?

Jannik Hansen already has experience at the proffesional level. He played 10 games in the playoffs and finished with an assist and seventeen shots. He has great speed and a good set of hands. He has already faced the pressure of the playoffs and should be ready for the upcoming season.

Jason Jaffray exploded last season with the Manitoba Moose with an impressive total (35-46-81) in 77 games. He would have been called up to play for The Canucks last season had he been under contract at the time. Now he is signed and the Canucks are ready to unleash him on the NHL. He has all the tools to be a mainstay for the Canucks(Size, speed, hands, vision). He also has 20 points in 27 playoff games for the Moose, showing that he can preform under pressure. I would not be suprised in the least, to see Jason Jaffray taking the ice in GM Place come October.

Mason Raymond skates like the wind and only has one thing in mind. Scoring goals. The 21 year old from Calgary, Alberta is coming to camp in great shape and is coming off a (16-34-50) in 51 games for Minnesota Duluth and The Manitoba Moose. Even though Raymond is a slightly smaller player 6'0 175lbs, his speed, hands, and determination should give him a spot in the opening night roster.

Just Believe
