...i understand that certain flyers players have been taking liberties with your canadian teams' players. but lets not fly off the handle this time around like with the downie incident.
campbell needs to address this just like he did downie and give him the 20 game 'benchmark' suspension. but just remember, when chris neil, ryan malone or darcy tucker take to dropping the hips to take someone out at the knees or or an elbow to an unexpecting players head, that they too will need to be dealt with accordingly.
so before we call for boulerice to be banned from the nhl (something he did last night on his own anyway), lets see how this plays out for his career, and see how these hits are established through he first half of this year.

I am a Flyer fan and I am Canadian.I hope he is gone for the year, he is brutal, he can't fight or play the game let the NHL set a standard for crosschecks to the head.I hate this crap, no need for it at all.
you are saying that based on the fact that he is not a good player. what about ovechkins hit last year on briere? pretty bad and in 2008 nhl would warrant a 5 game suspension based on the downie hit. the question is, does ovechkin or a crosby pulling stunts get them even a game?
I don't seem to recall Neil going airborn into the boards almost breaking his own neck like Downie did. Neil left his feet about half an inch AFTER the hit on drury and his hit on Avery was almost as clean as can get. Downie is nothing but a goon, he got suspended around 10 times in the OHL and his own coach actually suggested he gets psychological help, which he didn't end up getting, and this is the outcome. It really boggles my mind how you compare that kid to Chris Neil, watch a Sens game, last night his line was the best on the ice by far...he actually plays hockey.
Watch Downie play the kid has talent and yes he may need some anger issues resolved. Outside of the incident Downie would have likely ended up making the team based on current injuries, the kid played well in preseason.
Last night's play was much worse than the Downie hit. And it lies in just that wording - "hit". He wanted payback, and he at least tried to do it via a body-check. As soon as that play changes to a stick, it becomes much, much worse, and a much more dangerous play. Thus warranting a much steeper suspension.
fishfan. i am not addressing the issue of what hit was worse. i am addressing the need for the nhl to be consistent on the issue. those examples were some of the worse ones that would have been treated differently this year. if you read my thing over again, you will see that i support the downie suspension (as most of us flyers fans have on this site...at least the smart ones). also notice how i grouped neil with two other guys 'who can play hockey' and not a simon or some other goon. think before you write young lad.
murdoch i read your "thing" and it just seemed like you classified Neil as a potential threat, you wrote "when" someone like Neil takes a run at someones head etc... 'WHEN' was the part that got to me, just seemed like you were insinuating that he was going to do something similar to that hit. Also, the league announced in the offseason that they were going to crack down on head shots, that was the first suspension of the season...so i don't even see how consistency is even an issue?
