I must have missed that other mid-playoff presser the NHL held changing the rules. You know, the one where thy told the refs to not call interference. This Caps-Flyers game 7 is a joke. It's one thing to let the players decide the outcome of the game. It's another to let guys start plowing opponents into their goaltender and check guys without the puck. Someone let me know when they find refs who know the rules. Cause I'd actually like to watch a hockey game with good, hard, clean checking. Not this. Nice work Bettman & company.
Update: Supposedly the league is saying it was a legal hockey play as the puck was being played by the Washington player. I guess the check from behind gets ignored.
Update 2: Now this is getting ridiculous. Hartnell gets crushed from behind, then hauled down, then blatantly charges a Washington player at the other end. Just great.

Nice blog RW! Never have I seen the officiating in ANY sports playoff games get WORSE than they were in the regular season. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the officials in the post season supposed to be the best in hockey?

Yes, I watched the play. Why? I'd love to hear some reasons as to why people may think should not have been a penalty. Both teams are getting away with way too much and it's taking away from the flow of the game.
You said that dman didnt play the puck. I'd love to watch the replay with you and then you tell me again that he didn't play the puck.
I see how the way I wrote that could be read wrong. I was referring to separate plays. The one about the guy without the puck being the hit on Kapanen inside the blue line.

I'm not a fan of either, but they let calls go on both sides. The Capitals were getting away with murder for a while. They had their chances to win and lost. It isn't the refs fault, and I dont see what Betteman has to do with it. He has nothing to do with the officiating.
How about a jackass blog about how classless Caps fans are. Trash and beer bottles raining down on the Flyers as they celebrate. A beer bottle hits Jeff Carter during his post game interview. Way worse than Flyer fans chanting obscenities.

I'm sure russo looked away when the caps' fans threw trash on the ice and at our players. What a disgrace, but it's always Philadelphia that gets scrutinized...here's to the FLYERS and the best fans in hockey moving on! RUSSO = JOKE!
