And we should give thanks for that. The Flames came out today and played a SOLID first period. If we had played that way the whole game, we would have won. However, we stopped skating after the first period. Not only that, we kept giving the puck away, both in our own zone and at the offesive blueline. How can you expect to win when you do that? How can you even expect to get scoring chances?
It's time to be straight. This road problem isn't funny anymore. If we play like we did today we won't even win at home. We can't blame the afternoon game, or anything else for that matter. All we can blame is our own mistakes and lack of thinking. Two shorthanded goals? With our powerplay? Come on.
I don't want to come off harsh, but frankly, I don't care. It's do or die. I watched the Flames give up at the end of the series last year versus Anaheim. They are putting themselves in the perfect position to do it again.
Now, all that being said, I have utter faith in the Sea of Red and the Flames in the 'Dome. We will push a 7th game. Before we begin focusing on actually playing 60 minutes of solid road hockey, let's make sure we get back to basics and playing the system.
