I sure hope the condition of the pick is that he re-signs next year or else they get nothing at all. At that point I hope he retires. I do not understand this move as the guy is 37 years old and hasn't been playing regularly (played only 20 games thus far). We already have a full line in Hollweg, Mayers and Devaux, what are we trying to do here? Any thoughts?

Yeah the Burke era of getting rough and tumble is getting under way! One of those locker room guys you hear about and certainly worth a 6th round draft pick.

didn't they give up enough to acquire Hollweg and Mayers ostensibly to get tougher? I hope this is a prequel to more moves involving other veteran bodies.

I think its a good veteran pick up. More of a morale boost for the dressing room than anything. A sixth round pick is really nothing, however Jeremy Williams was a late round pick.

They won't even get the pick. Burke basically took May for free because of his contacts in Anaheim. I have a feeling this is to allow him some breathing room to trade away some of our gritty players (see Mayers, Hollweg, Devaux) for some higher round picks.

its ok, simply bridging the gap between this year and finding a good young tough guy to insert into the lineup.

absolutely, finally someone who won't skate away when its time to drop the gloves.

Hey, it gets the Ducks $1 mil under the cap. That's plenty of room come deadline time.
