According to Glen Wesley, there are approximately seven players on the Carolina Hurricanes who have not caught this apparent monster bug that has been ripping through North Carolina. Even the trainer Pete Friesen has caught this bug, which has some very strong, albeit relatively non-life threatening symptoms.

Can we contribute this to the team's poor play recently?

While it seems too conveniant an excuse it is one that cannot be ignored. It is hard to fault a player for not playing when he has lost eight pounds in one week. This is no ordinary cough, this is an infection that has spread throughout not just the team but the city as well.

One thing I am impressed with is just how solid the team seems to be playing (despite losing) of late even with so many call-ups and sick players on the team. One can only hope that as players get healthy and begin to return, we see the Canes getting back into the win column more frequently. This is a team that should be feasting on the Southeast right now and is one I firmly believe will return to form whithin the next two weeks.

Hopefully a very sick and depleted Hurricanes wipe out a pretty healthy Leaf team.

Let's hope we do see a resurgence to a level 3 or 4 Hurricane... it's been more like a tropical storm lately, and we can't wait to see them come back!
