The rumors are back. We had previous rumors from Ek on Tanguay and Frolov and neither of those came to fruition. No real concrete deal is being speculated here as to what the Preds would give up.

Jeff Marek from CBC Sports was just on the TEAM 1040. He hinted that Brad Boyes could very well be a Penguin by the end of the year and more importantly that Phil Kessel will likely be a Predator. He said that the Leafs don't really have enough assets whereas the Preds do. Its clear that Peter Chiarelli is wanting Poile to pull the trigger on dealing Colin Wilson. It makes sense for the Bruins if you think about it. Wilson is an American and he played for BU. Plus, he essentially a left-handed, younger version of Kessel. Both are good two way centres who are built well physically and have a knack for creating offense. Your thoughts?

- Boyes has apparently been coveted by the Pens since 2005.
- the rights to Radulov could also be a factor but Chiarelli wants Wilson, otherwise a deal would have been done already

Personally, I don't see anything happening for the Preds and am going with the "believe when I see it" approach. I'm all for dealing the rights to Radulov and a pick and/or prospect but I wouldn't want to see Wilson or Blum leave this team. I'm sure many might be with me on that.
The Leafs are offering 2 1sts and a 2nd, last I heard. I'm sure the Bruins would rather keep Kessel out of the division and get some concrete players who can step in sooner rather than later to help the current team. While I'm sure they don't mind the picks and picks which could very well be in the top half of the draft in 2010 and 2011, the Bruins are playing to win this year and next, so the improvements that affect the roster as opposed to the farm system, would be more important.

Kessel will be traded and he goes to the Preds if David Poile really wants to pony up Forsberg-style. He goes to the Leafs if the Bruins can accept removing a star from the lineup in exchange for future prospects.

Where will he go?

The Preds would be foolish to let go of Wilson. I'm not nearly as high on Blum and think he could easily be dealt if that is the price of doing business.

He's not going to Nashville.

No way do we deal Wilson. Blum, maybe, along with a couple of picks and the rights to Radulov, but I'm not convinced that the Bruins will go for that. I am also concerned about what kind of money Kessel is seeking and how that fits into our current and longer term budget. I'd like to see him here, but I just do not see it happening.

Regarding just draft picks from Toronto to Boston, many are already predicting that the '11 draft is going to be a very weak one, so in addition to the reasons you pointed out, I'm not sure how excited Boston is over just picks that would include that year. Just where does Kessel end up...

Giving up Wilson would be foolish, He is a more complete player than Kessel and I can't see Nashville ponying up especially if Kessel and his agent are as TO focused as rumoured. It's clear Kessel goes to TO or stays in Boston. It will just be a matter of time or for what price but my money is on TO as both the player and his agent want him there with Burke.

agreed. believe it when i see it. noway on wilson. absolutely on rads rights. a pick, a prospect( preferably dman) and rads rights. im sure the b's would rather us have him than tor, but i still dont believe it

I don't believe the rumors that Toronto is offering 2 1st and a 2nd. Why not go the offer sheet route. They would save on draft picks. I wouldn't give up Wilson, but I think that Poile's idea of drafting the best available will work out in our favor as we can trade Blum and still have Ellis coming down the roll to fill in for what we might lose.
