NEW Offseason Game Plan

With Brashear and Gaborik signed to contracts, as it stands today, the Rangers have about $13.7 million of cap space to work with. This is what should happen with that money if we want to be Stanley Cup contenders.

-Sign the RFA's. This is a reasonable amount for each RFA.

Zherdev-2 years $3.25million per yr.
Higgins-4 years $2 million per yr.
Korpikoski-1 year $900,00 per yr.
Dubinsky- 3 years $1.1 million per yr.
Callahan- 3 years $1.2 million per yr.

This gives the Rangers youth and talent. It also gives them $5.25 million of cap space available. With this, they should look into Robert Lang who remains unsigned at an asking price of $3.7 million. This gives the Rangers their center at about half the price of Gomez. He also puts up identical Gomez numbers in the points category.

Then the Rags should get a decent defenseman to replace Derek Morris, as his asking price is too high. This could be Francois Beauchemin or Brett Hedican for about $1 million.

This leaves our lines like this.....

Gaborik-Lang-Zherdev
Drury-Dubinsky-Callahan
Avery-Anisimov-Higgins
Grachev-Boyle-Brashear

Girardi-Staal
Gilroy-Redden
Beauchemin/Hedican-Del Zotto/Sanguinetti

Not too bad huh?

Not bad at all, i would still like to see Grachev move up from the 4th line though

Not bad. 2 things though; I think Korpi has to be signed for a little more than $1 miilion since that is what he was qualified for and Beauchemin has already been reportedly offered $4.25 million per by someone. I'd love to have him but there's no way we'll get him for $1 million per. I agree with lakrisal; Grachev would be better off at hartford than on the 4th line.

yeah i agree with you. gkmkiller, he's better off with hartford 'cause he has the oppurtunity to replace an injured player

you forgot about Rozi on defense.

yeah but he's better off in the ahl

id rather see redden in the AHL than Rozi. they are essentially equally bad and Redden would be an extra 1.5 million against the cap

Callahan nor Dubinsky will sign for under $2 million.

You know in Rozi's defense before last season he was a great defensman for us. I don't understand why people get on him so much. Redden is the one that needs to be gone. Rozi was not healthy last year and towards the end of the season he played much better. Rozi has been with us for a long time since the lockout so I appreciate him more than most rangers.

No wolf, he wasn't. I've been suffering through Rozsival for 4 years now, and I'm sick of it. He's one of the worst defensive players I've ever seen. He was perfectly healthy, don't use that injury bullshit. He's been a terrible player for his entire career.

Rozsival is what he is; a pretty good offensive guy who never shoots the darn puck enough. He is also a decent defender though he is prone to some bad lapses. He will never be worth the $5 million per that he is being paid. He is a 3 or 4 guy at best.

Terrible defender. He doesn't even score. One 40 point season in his entire career. At best he is a 6 or 7, I don't even think he belongs in the NHL. To the KHL with him.
