The core fans are the ones who buy the products, the tickets, show up to games. The perimeter fans, you have to have them, just like you have to have and develop new fans all the time, but you better take care of that core fan first.

This is why the NHL needs to get back to cold weather cities, the Core is in the north, period.

My idea is a migration of teams north or back to traditional places

1 Florida city (Tampa or Miami) has to lose a team

1 California city has to lose a team

Nashville, sorry you lose your team

Columbus, see Nashville

Ok 4 teams up for grabs....let the bidding begin

2 guaranteed to goto Canada, this helps establish team loyalty in the core fan base of canada.

The other 2 teams are sold to the highest bidder over $400 million, you don't want to pay 400 for a team? then guess you wont be buying a team now will you? no one at all pays 400, then those teams get retracted and their players have the option of becoming UFA's or going into a draft with their existing contracts to be honored by the drafting team.

who do I see ending up with teams?

Hamilton

Quebec

Seattle

and

Las Vegas

why didnt Phoenix lose their team? 5th largest city in the USA can not be ignored.

Seattle is less than mediocre in supporting their current WHL team, the Thunderbirds. It's a fickle sports town and I am not convinced that they would support an NHL team unless it was a perennial top contender. Meanwhile, the "non-traditional" markets are establishing and growing young hockey leagues. Hockey will grow and flourish anywhere, given time and the proper conditions.

How about, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Quebec City, Hartford?

As for Phoenix, well they better get their act together because they're running it like a Mickey Mouse Franchise

Wow, who saw this coming? I have no issue with teams being moved, and I think that cities that should get teams are: Winnipeg, Hamilton, Quebec and Houston.
