Game Three/SC's Top RFAs

Posted Saturday | Comments 0
So tonight will pretty much decide this series. Ottawa are on the ropes and Alfredsson, Heatley and Spezza continue to struggle against Anaheim's checking line, the Niedermayer-Pronger unit, and JS Giguere. But they return home to the Scotiabank Place with (hopefully) rabid fans who weren't even remote thoughts the last time the Senators won the Cup(except for that one 99 ...
It'll be an interesting off-season for the Flames this year. To look ahead, this will be a make or break off-season in regards to whether or not the team will be able to compete in the two or three years thereafter. Currently there is 40 million locked up towards next year's salaries, with about 10 million to spare. The question remains, what will we be able to do wi...

Kings make a Trade!!!

Posted Thursday | Comments 0
Kings have aquired St.Louis Blues 2009 5th round draft pick for 20 yr old T.J. Fast. Fast spent last year in WHL. Fast, 20, was selected by the Kings in the second-round (60th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He played in 71 games this past season with Tri-City of the Western Hockey League where he recorded 54 points (17-37=54) and 92 penalty minutes. I think t...

Saturday Morning Coffee

Posted Saturday | Comments 0
Not much hockey to talk about these days??? I'll do my best to keep focused on hockey but my blogs are starting to be very un-hockey related. Funny how none of the Leafs wanted to move at the trade deadline and now Tucker is gone, McCabe is on his way out and God only knows what's up with Meatball Sundin. Jose Theodore a Washington Capital, that just doesn't sound...

Devils and their UFAs

Posted Wednesday | Comments 0
The Devils have three MAJOR UFAs. Adam Mair. Andy Greene. Johan Hedberg. When it comes to Mair I'm sure all the Devils fans are happy and thankful to his contributions to the team last year. I myself believe he is a great player but I don't think he is going to be resigned. Andy Greene I think should definitely be resigned. He is an all around great blueliner....

Flyers Bottom D-Pair Concerns

Posted Thursday | Comments 0
With Sean O'Donnell's departure, Andreas Lilja's signing at $737,500 sounds good at first sight to round out the defense, with Oskars Bartulis ready as a 7th defender or possibly taking his spot at training camp. There are a few problems I see with this signing: 1. Andreas Lilja hasn't played a 70 game season since 2007-2008. This concerns me a lot. He has only...
Say what you will about the Stars' current season standings. They might once again continue their perennial placement on the bubble of the playoffs - perhaps they may even continue the playoff-drought that Stars fans have endured for half a decade now. But, to say that they haven't moved forward since last season would be a farce, despite sitting in the same positions th...
Modern day Oilers fans will remember in the not too distant past they were in the Stanley Cup Finals facing off against a Carolina squad with a young upstart goalie by the name of Cam Ward. Names like Mike Morrison, Jussi Markkanen and Ty Conklin were all to familiar to Oilers fans, much to their chagrin. Little did the fans realize that when the trigger was pulled on a ...
Its only been a few days since Mr. Chabot joined the world of the unemployed, but am I the only one who can see a difference already? Watching the Oilers goaltending over the last two games, I have noticed a few things that really stand out. First off, the focus on the play is better than I have seen it all year. Both Fasth and Scrivens seem to have a renewed faith in thei...

Great Start, Now What?

Posted Monday | Comments 0
It's been a breath of fresh air to have a team to cheer for again. Our Habs this year have come flying out of the gate. They have had some hiccups along the way so far, but overall its been a fast and exciting team which has been night and day from last years roll over and die edition. Early returns suggest that we won the Galchenyuk and Pacioretty trades hands down...
