Disclaimer/Update: No need to even read this blog. It was about my streak in predicting winners of playoff games through my PS2. It was at 9 straight games, but it fell victim tonight. The streak is over. In any case, CONGRATS ANAHEIM on that first win! Happy for your fans...Also for Brad May. Still pulling for the Sens though. Gotta go with the Canadian team here. Here's to lot's more hockey!!!

Alright, so, I've been playing games out on my Playstation2 since last year's playoffs, and surprisingly/eerily many of the outcomes have been right on. To be fair, I make sure all the rosters are always up-to-date. I play as the team I want to win, yet I set the settings on the hardest they can go. I did this with NHL2k6 and I'm doing it this year with NHL2k7.

Last year I did this for six games, 3 Sabres and 3 Stanley Cup Finals (Edm/Car). The team that won was right every single game, including right-on scores for Round 3 Game 6 Buffalo/Carolina (right down to Briere winning it in OT), and sadly Round 3 Game 7 (Carolina 3-2). Very odd indeed. Also had a right-on result for a SCF game, including the GWG-scorer.

That being said, this year I played Round 3 Game 1 between Ottawa and Buffalo...Ottawa won 4-1 (remember: real game was 5-2 Ottawa). I REFUSED to believe that would happen, so I played it out again, and fittingly (as if the hockey gods were telling me face it, this is what will happen) I was soundly defeated 9-1. (I was trying too.) It's just too odd how these predictions have been right on.......

By this point I'm sure all of you are intrigued and you're probably dying to know the PS2 Prediction for tonight's affair. Well, here you have it...right down to who will score the winner... I can't promise all that will be right, but the result (an Ottawa victory) will be. It would make the PS2 an unbelievable 10-for-10 between last year and this year predicting..

So here it is. Game 1 of the SCF - according to my PS2 - note: I was Ottawa because that's who I want and the settings were on as hard as they can possibly be (including an extra bouncy puck to make it harder)...
Ottawa 3, Anaheim 2 (2OT)
The highlights: -Spezza scores a hat trick; final goal comes after Anaheim misses quite a few chances on several PPs
-Final shots: Anaheim 72, Ottawa 25 (um, yeah)
-Scoring breakdown:
OTT: Spezza early in the second, 1-0 OTT
OTT: Spezza on a breakaway midway through the second, 2-0 OTT
ANA: Perry with 4 seconds left in the second period, 2-1 OTT
ANA: Selanne on a Penalty Shot with under 3 minutes to go, 2-2
OTT: Spezza on the PP, midway through the second overtime, 3-2 OTT

Don't believe the Sens will win prediction? Just watch. You'll see.....

BTW, I am rooting for Ottawa in this series. Always cheer for the Canadian teams when Buffalo is out. I live 15 minutes from the border and I have lots of family/cousins from Ontario (Kingston/Cobourg/Toronto), some who still live there today. And as for my 'objective' prediction of the series, I got to say Anaheim in 7...sadly...but I'd be REALLY happy if that were wrong!

We'll see....I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to double OT like that...but I'm still predicting Ducks 1-0.

Sentors hang on to win 4-1. Oh, right, I mean they pound them. Game 2, Sentors hang on to win 5-3, Bryzzy comes in. Game 3, Senators win 3-1. Game 4 Senators win 6-2. Spezza is anointed the King, but Alfie gets Conn Smythe credits.

Damn dude, buy a XBOX 360 or PS3....No wonder you missed the first game. You can't predict the finals on old technology like a PS2. LOL
