June 30th is the date when we will find out what the new salary cap is for the 2007-2008 season. In my opinion, it needs to be high. Higher than expected. Some of the numbers being thrown around are 48, 49, and maybe even 50. Eklund stated recently that the cap is set to rise to 52, and I don't mind that. Players want more money (obviously), teams are stuck and are willing to spend more money, so why not raise the cap significantly? I'm not saying to go out of control and raise it to 70, I think that the early-to-mid 50s is proper. If both sides want it there, then why should they keep it low? I also think that the NHL is aware of this, so don't be surprised if the cap is raised higher than you suspected.
WOW! Its obvious you can't see what is happening here.
What exactly am I missing?
wtf is the point of having a cap if your going to raise it every year soon gonna be as bad as pre lockout
Wow you must be a complete tool to want it to even make the 50 mark.. 48 is MORE then enough. At 48 you still dont have teams being able to spend to the cap. Anything more then 48 for the next few years
You must be a Leafs fan.
You must be blind in your right eye, lol
Are you fucking kidding me? All thats happening is the league bowing down to big market owners . . . within 5 years we'll be back to where we were before with some bullshit cap and a bunch of supposed rule changes.I missed a year of NHL hockey for this crap????? What a world . . . .
