Morrison was traded tonight to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Brian Connelly, a name that surely no one has heard of.
After doing some research, and watching some footage, this Connelly kid is quite impressive. At only 5'10, he may not be as intimidating as some defensemen, however with 52 points in 80 games last season, and a AHL All-Star, who according to some is a "threat on the powerplay, with amazing speed" the Flames snagged a solid player - for cheap.
Brendan Morrison will be missed, and was a great character player. This gives him the chance he deserves at winning a cup finally.
Feaster was quoted as saying "...we felt it was going to be difficult for us to find a spot for Brendan or get him significant ice-time".
Could this be a sign that Jeff Carter, or potentially Roy could be coming to Calgary?
I've heard from a few people that Feaster has been questioning about Roy.
Only time will tell.
That's all for now, folks. Have a great weekend!

questioning about roy?do you mean, asking, or questioning whether he's a good fit?
pretty solid trade... maybe he is planning on a rebuild depending how the next 10-15 games go. like the trade!
We mostly thought of Connelly as an AHL all star and not an NHLer. Hawks also have Leddy for years to come and Connelly is not a typical bottom pairing player. Hope he gets a shot. Good kid. I wanted Morrison when he was a FA a few years back. Is he healthy? Does he have anything left?
Kentxo... Morrison would play blindfolded and on one leg if you asked him to. If a lot of other Flames showed his heart on a nightly basis things would be rosier in cowtown. You picked up a gutsy classy player. Good luck BMO
It sounds like the Flames needed a PP quaterback in Abbotsford. THat would be about the only reason to acquire Connelly. He plays even smaller than advertised. His defense game is not there at all. You folks in Calgary have fun with him!
Morrison is a class act, and I'm sad that we lost him. He will play every minute for you guys if he has too.Connelly, may not be the best defensive d man - but his offensive side is evident. I personally think it's just to clear room for another trade.
Jokinen, backland, jones, stajan, horak. One of these need to move for us to get Roy in.I think this just lets us keep the young guys like jones, horak, bouma in the line up. Not much more.
Flames had to clear cap space with Stajan coming (sadly) off IR. That's all this is.
I spoke to Carters' agent, who did not deny thet the two sides (cbj and cgy) were talking.
We would be further back in a rebuild then we are now....unless CBJ takes jbo and stajanAnother shoot first player isn't close to what the team needs. besides tanguay, thats all the first 2 lines are.
The next 5 games are a biatch. I cant imagine Jay pulling the trigger on a carter deal until we see where we stand by Feb 15. BMO doesnt stray from a sell mind set either.
I won't deny I have been communing with the spirit of Eric Nesterenko in the Great Beyond . . . to you. So there you have it.
