for his agent to say that he will not go a penny under his worth on the open market is a crock and simply a very stingy and selfish approach to getting his client back in the good graces of the nhl (teams and fans).
if yashin was smart, he would take a 1 million dollar contract and go play for a contender with big name players like the avalanche or mighty ducks. he could skate and score in the shadows and earn a bigger contract next year.
go stomp your feet and play in russia for all we care...because what it comes down to is that no one will feel bad for you and you simply will not push a GM's hand with this tranparent card you are playing.
what a joke this guy is.
Thats the problem he is not smart, and if every NHL gm is smart they would let him go to Russia, this is a player that could take some pointers from a mature younger player like Crosby.
I totally agree. How much did he make in one chunk because of the buyout?
The buyout does not even come in to play in my mind, its the lack of team spirit from this guy hes not a guy you want in the locker room hes plain selfish.
www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=8571 perfect fit dont you think....
he was a noose around the neck of the islanders. dead weight. a negative influence. i have seen the term "cancer" in reference to his prescence since the buyout. he is a waste of potential. he has no drive and definitely no leadership qualities what-so-ever. maybe as a supportive role on a 2nd or 3rd line he would flourish...but as a captain...as a leader...and as an islander he was a tremendous dissapointment.
I wouldn't sign him to if HE PAID the organization $1 million. Just not a guy a guy you want on your hockey team!
ha. i mean at the right price he can add a little depth...A LITTLE. but he's not worth more than 1 or 1.5 million in my opinion. the only thing he was consistent at was being inconsistent; teams would be better off spending their money elsewhere. he should be the last resort.
We'll pay him 1.50 (a dollar-fifty Canadian) to clean the stone walkway up to the ScotiaBank Place. He would be required to stop and listen to EVERY fan that had something to say to him though. Deal?
ha. deal.
you're still getting ripped off though.
