In a galaxy far far......oh the hell with that. Everyone knows the Leafs haven't won a cup in 40 years but did you know that only 15 other teams since 1967 have won the cup in that 40 year period? Yep thats right only 15 different teams have won the cup in a 40 year period.
The New York Rangers went 54 years before winning it in 94. The Detroit Red Wings endured 42 years of futility and currently the Chicago Black Hawks are in a 46 year slump.
Since expansion in 1967, an original 6 team has won the cup 16 times and an expansion team has had the honor 24 times.
Bottom line, only 15 cities since 1967 can lay claim to a stanley cup champion. So the Leafs shouldn't feel all alone
Hey...the Jackets have never won a Stanley Cup if that's any consolation
thats not conolation for any oneF.Y.I.-81 years for ottawa :(
damn straight!
All that shows me is that the Leafs suck, but not as bad as a few other teams. It also shows me we're still in the top 5 when it comes to longest period of time without a Cup. Very little consolidation.
if feel your pain buddy lets hope its before to longFlamestr
At least I'm old enough to remember when Toronto last won it. How many of you do? This was a great idea Amoroq. Thanx
And here is to 40 to more.... this isnt a.. wha.oh yeah sorry
The Leafs do tend to get bashed for their drought the most, even though they haven't had the longest one (not even close). That being said, Leaf fans are fairly vocal so that probably has something to do with it. Either way I'm hoping they can win it in my life time...I don't want a Boston Red Sox like drought...although, IMO, it does make it a lot more meaningful when you do win.
Sabres entered the league in 1970 but we have never had the opportunity to taste from the cup
