Fashion 101, NHL Style - Part 1

Now that all the new jerseys have been released (some officially and other unofficially), this is a good time to take a critical look at them all from a fashion point of view. Of course, these are just opinions, so please do not flame me too badly. My opinion on your team jersey has nothing to do with how much I like/dislike that team, whether I think so-and-so is a dirty bum, etc. For those who have not seen them, here is a link (includes the AHL jerseys if you are interested):

This will have to be a 6-parter as going through all thirty teams at once would result in a really long blog and no one would read the whole thing. Starting with the Northeast division....
Northeast Division
Boston Bruins:
There is little change in the new Bruins jerseys. They feature a slight change in the logo that really is not very noticeable and a change in the stripe on the shoulder and arm. They have a nice retro look with the design being very similar to the old styles and the laces at the collars. Overall, the little changes added to the pleasing look of the Bruins jersey making it one of the best new jerseys.
Buffalo Sabres:
Very similar to the jerseys the Sabres wore last year. Has the classic blue/white/gold colour scheme that I think the vast majority of fans like, but has the Slug, which many fans do not like. I do not like the stripe that cuts across the top of the arm and continues partway down the torso. I do like the collars with the dual colours, it adds a little visual interest and brings attention to the players’ faces (which the NHL should like if they want to market the superstars of the league). I prefer the away jerseys, mainly because the arm/torso stripe is less noticeable. Overall, decent jerseys but can you imagine if they had the old logo with the buffalo and swords..?
Montreal Canadiens:
Like the Bruins and Sabres, the Habs made little changes to their jerseys. Nice that all the Original 6 teams jerseys are staying pretty much the same, do you agree? The only thing I really notice that is different is that these Habs jerseys also have the multi-coloured collars that I like in the Sabres jerseys. Overall, the same design so it remains one of the best jerseys in the league.
Ottawa Senators:
The Sens did make some changes, keeping the same colour scheme but updating the main logo and changing the shoulder patch. The logo is similar to the old “facing forward” Senator with the eyes facing outwards more and a cloak added. Personally, I prefer the “sideways facing” logo which is only going to be on “classic” merchandise. The new shoulder patch features the “O” logo of the original Ottawa Senators. A nice concept that many fans seem to like, this one included. Once again, they have the collars that I liked in both the Sabres and Habs jerseys. (Does anyone else see a pattern forming here...?) The jerseys are slightly plain and could use a little something more. Maybe some small stripes at the bottom edge of the jersey like some other team jerseys have. Overall, a nice jersey and as a Sens fan, I’m more than satisfied (especially when compared to some of the other jerseys).
Toronto Maple Leafs:
Another Original 6 team that kept their jersey the same. The stripes at the elbow look a little thin, and might look better if they were thicker. Like the Sens jerseys, they are a little plain; I am not sure why they did not keep the stripes under the bottom of the jersey. Having the stripes and/or laces at the collar would have been a nice detail(s) that would have kept them from being boring. Overall, another nice set of jerseys.
Summary
The Northeast division is filled with visually-pleasing jerseys; none of which stand out as being hideously ugly and a couple that are extremely nice. The Bruins jerseys are the most aesthetically pleasing to my eye, with the Habs one coming in second. The Sens and Leafs ones are a little on the plain side but there is nothing too major to complain about. The Sabres jerseys had the potential to be great, but they ruined it by keeping the Slug.
*Your comments would be appreciated. Should I continue onto the Northwest division, or put down the “pen” and never blog again? Which of the Northeast jerseys do you like the best, the least? What changes would you make, if any?

who gives a crap what they look like. Sens can have nyi's orange jersey with buffalos slug on it but at the end of the day...we're kicking the leafs A** and headin for the cup again
This is just for fun.. Obviously it doesn't really matter what the jerseys look like..
The jersey's are great. If anyone owns any under armour products and knows how soft and light they are and how they release moisture. Just imagine what they'll do while playing hockey.
Overall, a fairly good analysis. The Leafs ones bore the crap out of me, though. They may as well just wear pinnies and tape a while (or blue) circle on their elbow pad.
