The Islanders touched down at the Harbor Yard arena in Bridgeport Connecticut to face the New Jersey Devils for the second time this preseason. This was the second game of 3 games in 3 nights for the Islanders. Islanders dressed only a handful of their star lineup as the rest of the Islanders made their way to Boston to face the Bruins tomorrow for their final game of the preseason.
Islanders got on the bored 11 min into the first when 6'4 Kip Brennon who was parked at the blue paint took a centering pass from Chris Simon behind the net to put one past Martin Brodeur for a 1-0 lead. The Devils then tied the game on the power play as Brian Gionta fed the puck to Devils off-season acquisition Dainius Zubrus for a one two play with 1:34 left in the period. Wade Dubielewicz played well stopping 13 of 14 shots he faced, as Brodeur stopped five of six.
The 2nd period went scoreless until the Islanders gave the Devils a 2 man advantage. With 3:44 remaining in the period, Zack Parise took a puck off the post to slap home the rebound past Dubielewicz for a 2-1 Devils lead. Devils led the islanders in shots 26-14 at the end of 2.
The Devils held onto their 2-1 lead throughout the 3rd . Wade Dubielewicz played amazing to hold the Islanders deficit at 1. He was pulled with a minute left in the period , which gave the Isles a few good chances to tie it up, but it wasn't enough as the Devils finished on top 2-1 for the win.
