Today seems to be a big day in the NHL with Marleau signing, as well as many other signings. I am hearing that Vincent Lecavalier is now up for trade. I would love to see the Isles try to go for him. Please note this is mostly speculation; it's highly unlikely for it to happen, but I believe its possible. Remember this is coming from me. If the Islanders did want to trade for him, it would take a lot-- likely some combination of Satan, a top prospect, and a draft pick or two. I'll be in the www.islesnation.com chat room today at 7 pm. Enjoy your day!

Thanks,

Wait you have draft picks left after the Smyth trade?

Satan? Umm..... A second line Winger for a franchise player seems really unlikely, no matter how good the prospects packaged with him are.

unfortunately we have little wiggle room. satan is no longer a valuable commodity. this year will really bring prospect stockpile up, but for lecavalier, tampa wouldnt do it w/out okposo going the other way. I think thats why snow cant do anything. we only have one solid asset.

If TB is dumb enough to trade a potential Hart candidate, it'll be for a top 6 roster player and a minimum of 4 BLUE CHIP prospects. It would cost a lot.

Even if Lecavalier was on the market, (and I don't believe you for 1 sec) it would take MUCH more than what you're suggesting to get him to the island. Actually, I don't even think its possible. There aren't attractive enough players or prospects on the island for Tampa to even consider it. After seeing San Jose and Vancouver get away with absolute fleece jobs in acquiring Thornton and Luongo, there is no way Lecavalier gets dealt unless its a ridiculous offer.

actually there has been talks about Lecavalier going to new jersey for gionta or ellias and some prospects and maybe a draft pick.

so ur saying...trade a washed up mediocre second liner...an unproven talent...and a pick or two that could only lead to something should NYI finish last and TB gets Tavares...hmm...or they could just keep their MVP and move on...easy choice...do u have a source or soemthign cuz theres nothing on the net, or is it someone who told u directly...that, my friend, will never happen. ever. never. ever. im sry, ur entitled to ur opinion, which is fine, but lecavalier would never be traded for satan, or anyone else of that magnitude for that matter.

Vinny needs to wear the Oiler Silks. We will prob have to give up Roli and some picks and prospects and probably Staios and Greene as well for an elite scorer in Vinny. Not going to happen but we can always dream

Tavares isnt in this years draft.....

it's nice to dream and i would love to see Lecavalier in a devils uniform even though i would hate to see someone like gionta, parise or elias go but those guys would be inevitably involved if a trade went down. NJ has produced good players for the past couple years going as far back as gomez and maybe if we can deal zajac and clarckson and prospects, but then again i want them to stay in jersey and develop. the only thing that would be guaranteed if lecavalier came to jersey is an increase in attendance

Satan wouldn't replace Lec for tampa because hes to inconsistent. But if it does happen they would probably have to give up at least 2 first round picks.... 2008 and the 2009 so tampa would try to get tavares....

Lecavalier would cost us Okposo. I don't think we should trade him under any circumstance. We got burned with trading youngsters like Jokinen, McCabe, Bertuzzi, Luongo, Chara, and Spezza. As an Islander fan, if our franchise never made a trade ever again, I'd be happy. Yes, I am still suffering from the shell shock caused by Milbury. As for the Ranger$ fan blog, Isle's fan won't be losing any sleep over the players sent to Edm. for Smyth. Neil Smith stocked our farm system quite well during his short stint with club. I personally thanked Neil when I saw him. As much as I like Vinny, we can't give up the farm for him.

None of my sources told me this. It's just speculation. The only thing that is a fact is that Vinny is up for trade. And a rumor from my sources told me this week is the Islanders are involved in a trade. So i put the 2 together and turned it into Speculation. So we will see what happens.

Islesnation could be right. Isle's have been in rumors all summer long. We do need a center. I do know that Tampa likes our young defense corp but it would take a lot more than that for Vinny. If we can swing Vinny without giving up Okposo, I am all for it. What team did your source give you?
September 1, 2007 5:20 PM ET | Delete
pretty doubtful. isles only have few trade chips..Okposo being one, Hunter being another. Thats not enough to spring a top flight talent...and many isles fans will loathe losing their best prospect.

Good luck on getting Lacavalier for tghe crap you mentioned!

1 orange does not equal 2

apparently it doesn't read plus signs? Odd.

Vinny is going nowhere, he IS the Lightning!
September 2, 2007 2:56 PM ET | Delete
If Tampa is going to off load one of their big three it'll be Richards.

Anyone could be traded? Wayne Gretzky was traded 2 times. Mark Messier was traded. Patrick Roy was traded. Ray Bourque! Phil Esposito! Brad Park! Brett Hull! Luc Robitaille! Paul Coffey! These are all Hall of Fame players. Some of the best to lace em up. If they can be dealt, Vinny sure as hell can be!

Satan is in the last year of his contract, and has overall underperformed for his duration here. If the Lightening really want him, they can wait til this year is up, and get him cheap as an UFA. Okposo, as good as he's hyped to be (and we've all seen that goal), he's likely not going to be Lecavalier good. This trade couldn't be less likely to happen. SO, this speculation is pretty awful. BUT kudos for picturing Vinny in an Isles jersey. That is a nice thought!

I don't see Miro ending this season on the Islanders. Nolan has done a good job of eliminating the dead weight off the team. Except Miro. He is a not a Nolan type player. I'd rather see one of the kids on the team. At least they can skate and hustle. Miro is strictly a pp expert.

my sources are telling me that you are full of BS. vinny is not on the block, and will not be on the block. feaster has said more then once that he does not want to be known as the guy who traded vinny. so, unless feaster gets fired, this aint gonna happen.. and your satan prospects picks idea....bwahahahaha
