Its a sad day for me! Even with all the people who dont like Lindros for what he did not wanting to play for the Nordiques. I over looked that aspect and respecting him as a player, person and somewhat of a childhood idol. I played hockey growning up in the late 80's and 90's in Los Angeles and Gretzky was about to be traded to the Kings. I choose to look up to Lindros since i fashioned my game around his. I think it was because i was a taller and more physically fit than the average teenage kid. He got a bad rap from the whole draft incident but the people who looked past it saw a great player regardless of his past.
Now me being in Tx and him spending his last season in the city i live in was a great time for me. Even thought most of the season he was injured. The player i looked up to growing up playing his final Pro Hockey game in my backyard..what a ride. So this day is in fact a sad one since Thursday Nov 8th is my Birthday.
I felt obligated to myself to write this little blog about one is my experiences i had in my life. Some of you will may not feel the same about Lindros that i do and thats your choice.
Nice thoughts IDB. Lindros is an enigma who polarized a lot of hockey fans. As a player he was an exceptional talent...after that it really depends on how you view his 'career management' and the off ice stories that go along with it.
