Why is is when the Leafs are a playoff team they couldn't beat the Ottawa Senators during the regular season to save their lives.......but now that they aren't they have little problem with them? I know Alfredson and Heatley didn't play but still if the Leafs were a playoff team they would have found a way to lose!
the mysteries of life
Our three best players did not play in this game. Take Kaberle, Sundin and whomever (Blake??) out of the leafs and they're practically an AHL team. Same goes for any other team really. This shouldn't come as a suprise. As soon as I heard Phillips wasn't playing in this game I pretty much mailed it in.
The leafs basically were an AHL team last night.
that lose had nothing to do with the leafs, and everything to do with how terrible the sens are playing. they are a joke right now...
Ottawa has had problems with non playoff teams all season, for one reason or another they just dont seem to show up for these games..im not sure why, and its not a good thing..its like they are just killing time until the playoff's..but this kind of work ethic leads me to believe theres a good potential for an early exit this year...
dont blame the injuries - Leafs are missing McCabe, Antropov, Poni, etc and were playing with 5 AHL'ers in the linup... every team will suffer if they lose 3 of their top players - and Ottawa is no different. A little tougher for Ottawa - they are very top heavy - and if they lose more then 1 of their top 4, it is very difficult for them to win
edit - dont get me wrong, the Sens are the class of the East still - but, if they want another long playoff run - they need to be healthy - just like any other team...
Hey maybe toronto should just trade McCabe, Antropov, Poni, Steen, Kilger, Pohl and Bell because they can beat ottawa without them.
Ottawa was missing Alfredsson, Heatley, Phillips, Eaves and Bass, there was a flu in the locker-room and Spezza was obviously playing through some pain after the knee-on-knee.
i hate to say it though, who cares if the leafs can beat ottawa? sure, the rivalry. but thats nothing if youve got one on top and the other at the bottom. Its better when theyre closer together in the standings.
Yeah, it's not as if Toronto has 7-8 regulars out of the line-up or anything like that.
Sens are a one line team, screw up that line and........
Alfie for PM, I guess that Ottawa playing without their top 3 puts them in the same bracket as the Leafs, that being an AHL team, huh.
Sens arent really a 1-line team. There are 6 players on our team that I wouldnt trade straight up for any Leaf. The big three, Fisher, Volchenkov, and Phillips.
I won't take anything away from the Leafs, they won fair and square. Ottawa has not been playing as of late, and this was another example of that. Sure both teams had injuries, but the Leafs found the way to win it. The season series is now 3-2 for Ottawa and the last 3 games should be pretty interesting.
I'll agree that fischer is the is very good. When 1 line has 40% of both team points and goals, I think you can officially call it a 1 line team. Fracture that line and it all goes to hell
