The Blues today called up goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu and forward Yan Stastny from Peoria, and have sent backup goalie Hannu Toivonen to the Riverman for conditioning.
Toivonen started Saturday night in a 6-2 defeat to the Dallas Stars, and was pulled in favor of a sick Manny Legace after allowing four goals. He is 5-6-3 in 16 games played this season with a goals against average of 3.43.
Beckford-Tseu has played in 28 games for Peoria this season, posting a record of 16-9-2 with a GAA of 2.61 and a save percentage of .900.
Stastny has played in 34 games with the Rivermen this season, registering 19 points (11 goals, 8 assists).
Expect Stastny to be in the lineup when the Blues host the Los Angeles Kings Tuesday night in St. Louis. David Perron or DJ King are possible candidates to sit out the game.
Also, I am hearing from various sources that Beckford-Tseu could be starting in net Tuesday night as well for the Blues. Manny Legace is still sick with the flu and has not seemed to get any better, even though he battled through it in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild Sunday night. Do not be surprised to see Beckford-Tseu get the nod in favor of Legace in Tuesday's game.
I am working on a rumor right now involving a possible trade involving one of the Blues' defenseman. If I get any confirmation on this, I'll be back to report it immediately.
Later folks,
Nick Boston
