The passion. The toughness. The win.
This was Flames hockey. This was the grit we saw in '04. This is what we expected.
We were forechecking. We were winning the battles. We were making short passes and skating. We can beat the Wings. 1 down, 3 to go.
Very entertaining game to watch! Your guys played hard and fought back into this series. Nice win.
Win on the road and I'll believe you.
Detroit has to have in the back of their mind all the times they've laid down and lost a series when favored. Last year to the Oilers (8 vs. 1). 2004 to the Flames (6 over 1). 2003 to the Ducks (7 over 2 in sweep fashion, all 4 games decided by 1 goal, 2 in overtime). 2001 to the Kings in spectacular collapse fashion (7 over 2 in 6). Even 1994's seven game first-round loss to the Sharks (another 8 over 1 special) has to be in at least a few minds (Nick Lidstrom and Kris Draper were on that team).
It was a nice win, however a lucky one too, as the Flamers did not look their best. At this point, if they give it another good go, they even things up and at least their confidence is back and well it's a best of 3. Anything can happen. It's obviously you have to win one on the road, but in a Game 7 situation, anything goes, the atmosphere in your room is obviously different, it will be interesting for sure. *yay* for Brad Stuart trying to clear his name from all the critics.
Nice win last night for sure...but the Flames can't let up at all! They have got to win both at home or you are done for sure. The same way the Preds can't let SJ take game four tonight.
