Earlier I posted this....and the Sabres are already up 3-0 with 6 minutes left in the first. Can't be right all the time! I'll chalk this up to my Vancouver bias described below in my earlier entry.
I'm going out on a weird limb tonight, and I'm predicting a 4-2 Vancouver win for this evening's game at HSBC Arena.
I say Steve Bernier will be pumped and fiery for this game, and he wants to prove the Sabres missed out on a whole lot of talent in their move of Big Bear. He brings his all for this one, and he pots two goals, IMO. His linemates, the Sedin twins, know the meaning of this game for him and they'll set him up nicely for a few goals.
I don't usually pick against the Sabres, I haven't yet this year though my Playstation did. But I just feel we're facing the wrong team at the wrong time. The Canucks are pumped after their 4-3 triumph over the defending Cup champs last night, and they're ready to keep rolling into Buffalo.
Ryan will give up a softie or two tonight - no one is perfect - and it will have a part in the momentum of this game.
Vanek will add his usual tally, a PP goal. I also say Afinogenov finally cracks the scoresheet with his first goal of the season.
But I'll go a step further, too, and state my firm belief that the Sabres get their act back together for a big 4-1 win at Atlanta tomorrow night.
Disclaimer: The Canucks are my second favorite team, so I'm a bit conflicted tonight...I could be a little bias in giving the Canucks a little too much credit? But, I also want to make it clear, I hope I'm wrong, and I hope the Sabres win tonight! They're by FAR my fav team and I'm a Buffalo native.
before i got bashed with comments from fellow sabres fans...two more points: (1) ya can't win em all, if the sabres were going to lose one of their next several games, i'd pick this one...they can win in atlanta and they have a good shot vs. boston tuesday. (2) sabres will just run into a tough team at home tonight, much like the rangers ran into a tough test in the sabres on wed. ...just my hunch, could be wrong, and again i hope i am!
Not to be picky, but if Vanek, Afinogenov, and Paille score, it would have to be a 4-3 final.
that's a good catch - i originally had the score 5-3 but i dont think vancouver scores that many goals, even with an empty netter. ill take paille off.
I for one hope you are correct Sir!
I love the preemptive post.lolI'm surprised you didn't go for an overtime prediction, that way both your teams get some points.
overtime would be ideal :)
To be fair you didn't know the shooter tutor would be in net.:)
i was thinking the same thing. I really thought Luongo would go.
