Jeremy Roenick will return to the Wachovia Center ice with the sharks tonight for possibly the last time?
Jeremy Roenick was part of the Flyers organization between 2001 and 2004. In these years the Flyers had three playoff appearences. The last took the Flyers to game seven on the Confernce Finals to be beaten by the Tampa Bay Lightning won went on to win the cup. Roenick was a huge part of this run. He played alone side Simon Gagne and Keith Primeau. This line was highly productive throughout the playoffs.
Philadelphia will always have fond memories of the outspoken J.R. Who wouldn't love the man who danced in the locker room with a disco ball on Coatseys Corner? He was always trying to get a good laugh out of fans and players. He was always very approachable, one of the best player-fan relations guys. Something Philly fans ALWAYS look for in their players.
Another fond memory of J.R. was the time he dressed up like Clarkie on halloween. Roenick came out for warmups with a long blonde wig, a Clarkie jersey and Clarkie's pads. J.R. came on the ice for warmups and surprised everyone. No matter what kind of shenanigans J.R. was getting into, he always made the fans die laughing.
There have been many rumors of J.R.'s retirement the last few seasons, but this season will likely be his last year. So tonight, I expect a standing O in lieu of J.R.'s last game on our ice.
