The Introduction:
I'm currently a freshman at Northeastern University and studying to be a Journalist. I've talked to many in the field who urged me to start blogging about the team to get my name out there and what not. So, being that I am a college student, and in boston- I cannot promise an account of every game. But I'm going to update as much as possible. Also, because I am just beginning to get my feet wet in this- ANY constructional criticism will be GREATLY appreciated!

To begin, I want to do something fun. My TOP TEN songs to get ready for the 2008-2009 Flyers season, I know we're all extremely excited- and this will just get everyone more pumped! The list is in no particular order... ENJOY!

10-"Hungry Like The Wolf"- Duran Duran
This is obviously inspired by the Flyers ad campaign, Hungry For More. This song could easily be a song for a team like the Penguins. The crushed out playoff run last season, and this year, we're going after them- along with the other top teams in the NHL.

9-"We're Gonna Win"- Bryan Adams
This song has always been a Flyers anthem for myself and my family. It's an upbeat inspirational song, with the general message of - winning is the only option.

8-"Back In Black"- AC/DC
This song is a little cliche, and has been seen many times in Flyers promotions. This season, this song will be the theme for Simon Gagne. After missing all but 25 games with a hard span of concussions, Gagne is back and ready to take on the role of number one goal scorer. I am guaranteeing a 50+ goal season, feel free to quote me!

7-"Bodies"- Drowning Pool
As known through the NHL, Philadelphia embraces our tough guy stereo type. As fans, we have come to "own" insults thrown our way, like the all too popular, "Megadeath Security." This song just personifies the way out boys go out on the ice and lay out player after player- just the way we like it.

6-"We Are One Tonight"- Switch foot
When opposing teams come into the Center, they know they are not just facing the men on the ice in Flyers jerseys. They are facing ALL the fans in the buildings, flyered out in their jerseys, t-shirts, face paint, & wigs. This song is an anthem of that player-fan relationship we value with our team.

5-"One More Time"- Daft Punk
This song is on the list for 2 main reasons. 1- it is the ULTIMATE celebratory song. and 2- because this season will prove to have MANY celebrations which will lead up to the ULTIMATE celebration(that shall remain nameless because of superstitious reasons).

4- "We're Not Gonna Take It"- Twisted Sister
Another song to help us gain momentum out of the fact that we are not well liked in the NHL. Our players amaze me in the way they take what is said about them, and use that as fuel on the ice. This song is ALL about that kind of attitude.

3-"There and Back Again"- Daughtry
"Lay down, my friend. Close your eyes, breathe in, And I'll take you there and back again."
This song can easily get anyone ready for the Flyers to take us "there and back again." The chorus goes through the excitement felt by us all. The verses have a darker feel to them, bringing out our "underdog" mentality.

2-"I Don't Care"- Fall Out Boy
Another song that I feel reflects the "underdog" or "unliked" traits our team holds. From the first time I heard this song, ALL i could picture was a montage video including a Mike Richards fight, a Simon Gagne goal celebration, and a beautiful save by Marty Biron.

1-"The Boys Are Back In Town"- Thin Lizzy
A Flyers season prep-playlist can not be complete without this song. The second this song begins, I think right back to my childhood, the song playing during warmups as my hero skated passed me. Although ALL the players have changed since, This song will always be the season opener song for me.

I hope everyone enjoys this! Feel free to give any critiques, I'll take them graciously.
Take care and enjoy the Flyers-Devils game tonight!
