The Blues got some great news on the defensive front as Roman Polak, who has been out of action since breaking his foot almost a month ago, is on the team's current road trip and could be back in the lineup by Thursday at the earliest.
X-rays on Polak's foot Monday showed the broken bone in his foot is nearly healed. It's possible, though, that the Blues could hold him back until they return home Saturday night to finish their home and home series against Nashville.
Before his injury, Polak was fast becoming one of the Blues' best defensemen. On the season, Polak has registered one goal and 10 assists in 44 games played.
A few Bluenotes heading into tonight's game at Columbus:
-Speaking of defensemen, Jay McKee will be a healthy scratch for the third straight game tonight.
-The lineup for tonight's game will be the exact same as the lineup for the Rangers' game this past Monday.
-Keep a close eye on Brad Boyes tonight. In 12 career games against the Blue Jackets, he has lit them up for eight goals and 12 assists, along with a +4 rating.
-Chris Mason will once again get the start in goal for the Blues. This will be the fifth game started in goal in nine days for Mason. It'll be interesting to see if fatigue will play a factor in the way he plays tonight.
