Blues' Defenseman Johnson Recieves Medical Clearance

Blues' defenseman Erik Johnson, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL in his right knee, has officially recieved full medical clearance from his doctors to resume on-ice hockey activities, according to Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The 21-year old star blueliner was injured before the 2008-09 season even began, while on a team bonding golf trip. Johnson's knee got tangled up in the grass when stepping out of a golf cart, which resulted in him tearing his ACL and missing the entire season.

Johnson participated recently in the Blues' pro orientation camp, but did not play in the scrimmage game. During the summer, he's been working out with Al MacInnis and Keith Tkachuk to try to get himself back into playing shape and regain his form.

Johnson will be one of three Blues' players participating in the USA Olympic Men's Orientation Camp August 17-18, to prepare for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The Other two Blues' participants are TJ Oshie and David Backes.

September 12th is when all Blues' players report for physicals, but it looks as if after a year on the sidelines, Johnson is ready to get back at it.
