Are the leafs better off now that he's been gone for 2 years and counting? Here are moves that have been made since JFJ was fired that have been detrimental to the team
Sign Jeff Finger to a 14 mil 4 year deal
Trade a 3rd round pick for Jamal Mayers
Trade Coliaicovo and Steen for Lee Stempniak
Sign Mike Komisrek to a 5 year 22.5mil contract
Trade Pavel Kubina for Garnet Exelby
Trade Anton Stralman for a 2nd and Wayne Primeau
and the mother of them all down the line:
Trade their 2010 and 2011 1st round picks as well as their 2010 2nd round pick for Phil Kessel
The last one is potentially lethal to a team desperate for a superstar like a Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin might bring. It is the 2nd time in 3 years the Leafs have potentially sent a franchise player to the Bruins (Rask being the first in 2006 under JFJ)
So say what you want about JFJ, Cliff Fletcher and then Brian Burke are not much better if at all
You're right. 100% right.
this season sucks
My take on Jeff Finger is that he is balanced by the awesome signing of Niklas Hagman... and if you look at Finger's defensive stats compared with his apparent doppleganger Kurt Sauer they come out as vastly better.
An addendum... I really really really really dislike Lee Stempniak as a hockey player.
"if you look at Finger's defensive stats compared with his apparent doppleganger Kurt Sauer they come out as vastly better."if you look at Finger's defensive stats compared with the 200-300 defencemen in the league you realize its a waste of money
lets take away jeff fingers inflated contract, he still doesnt belong in the nhl. hes the 8th defenceman on a bad team. kaberle, schenn, komisarek, beachemin, white, gunnerson, exelby are all better....and so was vyn ryn until he got hurt. hes a defensive liabilty running around all the time, terrible on the pk as well.
Kessel looks pretty fn amazing right now !!! Seguin who ?
