According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, the Blues front office sent out an e-mail today to the other 29 teams notifying them that winger Brad Boyes is availabe for trade.

The Blues did the same thing last week in regards to defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo.

Boyes does not have a no-trade clause in his contract, so moving him would be much easier than someone like a Paul Kariya or Keith Tkachuk, who have such stipulations in their contracts.

Boyes seems to have fallen out of favor in recent weeks with Blues management and coaches. Some nights have seen the former 40-goal scorer relegated to the fourth line, playing alongside the likes of Cam Janssen and Brad Winchester.

Quite the turnaround for a guy with amazing talent and offensive ability, and at one time was considered to be the centerpiece of the rebuilding process when the Blues traded defenseman Dennis Wideman to Boston in exchange for him in 2007.

People within the Blues' organization say if Colaiacovo and Boyes are traded, both want it to be in a package deal.

UPDATE:Montreal looks to be in on Brad Boyes big time. Edmonton is to an extent, but right not the top suitors are the Habs.

The Blues have already made a trade with Montreal last night, acquiring winger Matt D'Agostini in exchange for highly-touted prospect Aaron Palushaj.

Palushaj is a promising talent out of the University of Michigan who has some untouched potential, but has had a tough time adjusting to the style of play in the AHL with Peoria.

D'Agostini could work out in the Blues' favor as a decent third-line winger with scoring ability, kind of how the Alex Steen/Carlo Colaiacovo for Lee Stempniak deal worked so well for the Bues last season.

Maybe a change of scenery will do both of these youngsters well.

Updates as they come along...
