Salary Breakdown: 2.5 , 3, 3.5

9 mill total.

Andy adds a little bit of everything both on offense and defense and we really like what he brings to the table,” said Islanders head coach Ted Nolan. “We talk about heart, grit and character and Andy Sutton has a ton of it all. He’s a big guy who plays big and isn’t afraid to do the dirty work. He fills a big void for us and our fans are going to love to watch him in an Islanders uniform because he’s a competitor and hard worker.”

markov is taking his sweet time, and the Isles were not going to wait till he decides what to do. Especially when all other options were going to be signed. Markov wanted 4.5 , and is often injured. Sutton brings a tough game and more stability to the defense. We are set on defense for now. We also have several good prospects on defense: Kohn, MacDonald, and Johnson, so there are other options. And then there is Freddy Meyer IV. This Isles teaam is going to get under the skin of many opponents, and will be able to respond.

Good stuff! Looks like the Isles defense is shaping up for this season. I'm glad they grabbed a defensive defenseman, all the rumors about the defensemen with the cannon slapper but a liability in their own end was scaring me. I like his 8yr experience, should be good for bringing up the younger guys. One more defenseman would be nice; I know Martinek is a player whose never been injured ever in his career, but in the unlikely event that he does (knock on wood), it would be nice to not have to rely on Freddy Meyer IV, I still don't really trust that guy's skills yet
