Panic Button

Posted 1:39 PM ET | Comments 8
Are we really ready to panic in Leaf land already? It seems to be the same old story, especially last night, where the defence continues to break down, third period leads are blown, and bad give aways that lead to penelties and to top it all off, everyone's favorite overpriced D-man McCabe puts in the OT winner on his own net with 3 seconds left. This left me in a sour mood as I shut off the TV and went to bed I have to admit. However I'm not ready to abandon ship and I'm not ready to end my hopes of being a playoff team this year. I think that the Leafs have some positives for sure coming out of this game such as Chad Kilger who has been invisable until last night. The young players are stepping up and playing well. And Antropov is playing very well early in the season. Raycroft is looking sharp and so is Toskala. Things will come together and so I'm going to save my white flag for a LOT later this season, and hopefully, I wont need it at all.

I think the playoffs will be tough for this team. Ottawa, Buffalo, Montreal, Pittsburgh, Rangers, Flyers, Islanders, Devils, Lightning, and Hurricanes might be better than the Leafs right now. Even if they do get to the playoffs, I don't think they could beat Ottawa, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Carolina or New York in a 7 game series so they'd be one and done most likely. I think it may be time to implode the team and bring in some prospects.

To be honest leaf fans should not abandon their team yet. They were technically leading the game for almost the entire time. The leafs pk looked good last night and for the first two periods Raycroft and the d looked halfway decent. I'm a season ticket holder for the Sabres and I was embarrassed by the way the ice at HSBC Arena looked last night. Some of those turnovers by both teams were horrible, but some of the blame can be put on the way HSBC officials treat the ice at the arena. Regarding McCabe, the guy has got to go. Send him out west for a few prospects. I would like to add I was impressed by Simon Gamache play. I also took a look at his stats and I was surprised to find out that he had a nice point streak going.

What are we, 7 games into the season? Don't panic!!! They'll be there come the playoffs. Don't jump ship just yet!

I agree with beleafer#1 - there is no need to panic yet for anyone. I think every team has room for improvement - this is why you play 82 game season. Leafs can certainly fight for a playoff spot, and I think they will get in. If you go by early season records, then you have Islanders fighting for the eastern conference finals - give me a break, it's only a few games in!

good points, but McCabe has GOT TO GO, he wasn't the same offensive scorer he was 2 seasons ago, and his defensive game went to hell.
