Ryane Clowe led the Sharks to victory in a rare low scoring affair Saturday night against the Blackhawks in San Jose. The Sharks showed some character in this one, battling through the last two periods after giving up a soft goal to the Hawks late in the first.

The first period contained the only two regulation goals, the first coming at 9:16 by Ryane Clowe for the Sharks, the other from the Blackhawks' Jordan Hendry at 18:23.

The next scoring action didn't come until overtime, when Ryane Clowe scored the game winner for the Sharks, his second of the game, at 3:52.

Game Notes:

The two leading players in minutes played per game faced each other, in Duncan Keith of Chicago and Dan Boyle of San Jose.

There were only three minor penalties called in the game, all of them coming in the first period.

Ryane Clowe is now tied for the NHL lead in points in December with 10 (3 goals, 7 assists).

In 2 games against his former team, Antti Niemi is 2-0, with a 1.50 GAA, and a .952 SV%.

My picks for the Sharks 3 stars:

1: Ryane Clowe (2 goals, +2)
2: Antti Niemi (win, 28 saves on 29 shots)
3: Marc Edouard Vlasic (2 assists, +2)
