A third period collapse by the Sharks leads them to a losing record for the 8th separate time this season, putting them back outside the playoff picture at 9th in the conference and 4th in the division.

The game started with a fast pace, but not many quality chances, until Niclas Wallin of the Sharks fired a hard shot past Anders Lindback to make the game 1-0 Sharks after one period.

The second period featured a goal for each team, both being scored by the Sharks, as a Jordin Tootoo pass was deflected of Scott Nichol's stick past Antti Niemi to tie the game at 1. Dany Heatley scored on a late power play to give the Sharks back the lead 2-1 after two periods of play.

The third period was dominated by Nashville, them getting goals from Sergei Kostitsyn, then Colin Wilson, to put the Sharks away in the final frame by a score of 3-2.

Game Notes:

Nashville goalie Anders Lindback had posted back-to-back shutouts before tonight, finishing with a total shutout streak of 134.17.

Sharks defenseman Jason Demers was a -1, only the 5th time this season he's had a negative +/- in a game.

Sharks Antti Niemi played his 4th consecutive game against Nashville, the longest start streak of either goalie this season.

My picks for the Sharks 3 stars:

1: Niclas Wallin (goal, 2 shots)
2: Antti Niemi (32 saves, 3 GA, .914 SV%)
3: Dany Heatley (goal, -1, 1 shot)
