Former 1999 Penguins draft pick Darcy Robinson, 26, collapsed on the ice during a game with the Italian Asiago team. Robinson was un-hit at the time of collapse in the first period, and was later rushed to a hospital where he passed. The cause of death has yet to be determined. Over his short career, Robinson spent time with the Penguins' minor league affiliates. From 2...
Canadiens' fans worldwide hang and hide their heads in shame as the Circ du Gauthier continues to embaress our proud organization. There is no doubt that the bottom has dropped out of whatever plan and rebuild Andre Savard had started and we have in fact returned to the days of Houle the Fool and Mario Trembley blindly leading the team through a mine field. Once...

Without further ado... 1. Columbus- Nail Yakupov, LW, Sarnia Sting - Columbus succeeds to 'Fail for Nail' and select the best player in this draft. Comparable: Alex Ovechkin 2. Edmonton- Ryan Murray, D, Everett Silvertips - Although most scouts believe Grigorenko will go second overall, the Oilers address their needs on defense by taking the best blueliner in th...

OffSeason Trades-Part 1

Posted Thursday | Comments 0
Hello this is a new series I am starting,YES THE TITLE WILL BE THE SAME IN THE REGULAR SEASON NEXT YEAR!(These trades have nothing to do with other trades ie. Capitals could trade Ovi in 2 trades I list) Trade 1- Craig Anderson to Tampa for a 2012 2nd Round Pick Well Obviously Tampa needs a goalie bad, so there is the reason for them.Ottawa would have Bishop starting ...
Scott Howson must be weeping all the way back to Columbus. The guy cant catch and break and some how Steve Tambellini still has a job and keeps winning the first overall pick. Draft Yakupov or trade the pick? It's not an easy decision, but definitely a nice place to be. Read more: http://west.thecheckingline.com/blog/derrick-newman/edmonton-oilers/oilers-win-first-o...
Why would Edmonton trade the 1st Overall pick? The second Edmonton won the Draft Lottery everyone started to compare them to the Quebec Nordiques who also got the 1st Overall pick three years in a row. Quebec would win the Stanley Cup five seasons later as the Colorado Avalanche, guess how many of those 1st Overall picks were on that Stanley Cup winning team. If your gue...

ISS released their new draft rankings yesterday. There are some surprises and the reason for the changes can be seen. Forsberg moved to the number 2 spot for his finish as top forward in the Under 18 tournament. However with that said Matt Dumba moved up but was ranked behind U-18 Dman Jacob Trouba. Dumba Lead the tournament in points and was selected as the number one...
Hello all first off this will be the first bit of any sort of writing since high school so bare with me. Coaching situation Ever since the WHC there has been rumors of Brent Sutter becoming the next coach of the Oilers. I highly doubt that rumor will come true. Dont get me wrong Sutters a solid coach but I think he'll sign with another team thats closer to a contend...

In a recent Richard Cloutier blog surprisingly void of Eric Belanger insults, a trade scenario was presented in which the Oilers and the Habs would swap two stars straight-up. Subban for Yakupov in a pure 1-for-1 hockey deal. I just thought I woud weigh in to the conversation with my thoughts on a deal that could rock the hockey world. I have long been an advocate of th...

Oilers Year 1 of the rebuild

Posted Tuesday | Comments 0
Anyone can say that the Oilers have been rebuilding since 2007 but have they? Sure they have added some big name talent in proven players such as Eberle, Hall, RNH and Nail. Plus hopefuls such as Reinhart, Nurse, Draisatl and even Schultz for some prospecting sites. Still this is the first real year of anything resembling an attempt to improve the franchise all around. ...
