Checked out the Sabres development camp last week, here's some quick thoughts:

-Myers and Weber were a defensive pairing throughout camp, and both played like, you guessed it, "men among boys". Calm, cool and collective, they looked NHL ready.

-Butler also played very well, and after his call up last season, looks to be an obvious lock for a roster spot next season.

-The most impressive defenseman IMO was actually Weber. He looks hungry and motivated for a roster spot this season. Its his year.

-The only forwards that impressed me were Gerbe and Kennedy. Both played well, and both seemed very willing and capable of playing sound two way hockey.

-Kennedy actually may have had the best play of one scrimmage I witnessed. He chased a defenseman behind the net, stripped the puck off the dman's stick, then passed it out front for a quick one timer goal. It all happened in about a 3 second span. Fast, vicious and effective.

-I didn't catch Ennis on the ice at all, so Im unable to comment on him.

-Foligno participated in the scrimmage, and laid on a few hits. As was reported, his feet seemed a bit slow. However, he looked motivated. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the team in a few short years.

That's all for tonight!
