Quarter Mark: Reviewing Predictions

In October I posted a prediction for each of the thirty teams. Now that we're just about 25% through the year, let's see how out to lunch I really was.

30 Teams, 30 Predictions

Anaheim – A flavor of the shortened season, they fail to make playoffs.
Obviously this doesn't seem to be true thus far, with Anaheim 2nd in the West. I guess Bruce Boudreau wasn't really the problem in Washington.

Boston – Milan Lucic scores 30 goals, again.
With 8 goals in 19 games, Lucic is on pace for 34 goals.

Buffalo – Ryan Miller gets traded.
Give it time, give it time.

Calgary – Sean Monahan scores 50 points.
13 points in 20 games, a pace for 53 points on the year.

Carolina - Eric Staal scores 40 goals.
At this point, Staal is on pace for a shade over 20.

Chicago – Cory Crawford takes step back.
Down in Save% and GAA, this one is true even though Chicago remains a power.

Colorado – Nathan MacKinnon wins the Calder.
I still believe this one will pan out, though Tomas Hertl would be the 1/4 mark pick right now.

Columbus – The Blue Jackets finish 2nd in the Metropolitan
Boy was I wrong.

Dallas – Tyler Seguin makes Boston rethink the trade.
Seguin is on pace for over 90 points and 40 goals. Well done Chiarelli, well done.

Detroit – Daniel Alfredsson misses 45 games with injury.
He's missed two of 21 so far, he'll need to pick the pace up a bit.

Edmonton – Makes the playoffs as the 8th seed.
LOL

Florida – New owner, same non-playoff position.
Indeed.

LA – Plays solid hockey all season long, vice the last 20 and playoffs.
Maybe they just don't like the months that aren't named March thru June.

Minnesota – Gets hosed in another trade...with Buffalo...again.
Give it time.

Montreal – Joins Anaheim as shortened season flavors and misses the post-season.
They won't be joining Anaheim, they'll be alone.

Nashville – Shea Weber wins the Norris.
Yes, he will.

New Jersey – Makes the playoffs for one last run with Brodeur before he retires.
Only one point out right now, but doesn't look great.

New York Islanders – Earns a wildcard berth.
I believe in Tavares to make this happen.

New York Rangers – Misses the playoffs despite the talented roster.
They're on the right track, going 10-10 in their first 20.

Ottawa – Finishes 2nd in the Atlantic division.
Who saw this defensive meltdown coming?

Philadelphia – Emery struggles and goaltending woes continue in Philly.
Emery is still Emery, no matter what jersey he wears.

Phoenix – The new pay for parking standard in Glendale drives fans away and they lose even more money than previous years, continuing relocation talk.
Oh Phoenix, is the five years up yet?

Pittsburgh – Sidney Crosby plays all 82 games and scores 150 points.
He started off to hit this mark, but needs to pick it back up.

San Jose – Logan Couture finishes the year with a point-per-game.
20 points in 21 games, still a possibility.

St Louis – Alex Pietrangelo scores 20 goals.
Currently on pace for 17, nothing a hatty can't fix.

Tampa Bay – Steven Stamkos scores 70 goals.
His broken leg may have something to say about that.

Toronto – Phil Kessel breaks the 50 goal barrier.
Currently on pace for just over 40, but you never know.

Vancouver – Even though they finish 2nd, behind LA, in the Pacific they throw Luongo back under the bus after 10 games, with the topic joining Phoenix as the longest running drama series in the NHL.
Surprisingly, Luongo hasn't seen the undercarriage of a Greyhound yet this year.

Washington – Alex Ovechkin sits top 10 in points until Sochi ends, when he falls back and Washington misses the playoffs.
Yes.

Winnipeg – Andrew Laad never comes near a point-per-game again, ever.
Currently on pace for 19 points under a point per game, this is the Andrew Laad we know.

There you have it, some are on and some are off. I still stand by all my predictions...except the Stamkos one, it's kind of hard to score 70 with one leg, from the the press box.
