NHL2K8 Review

Ok so I went out and bought NHL2K8 for my ps2 since I can't afford a 360 right now and I'm very dissapointed. The controls are very choppy and the game just doesn't seem like they tried. Maybe it's cause it's on the ps2 but I just don't like it but it's gonna have to hold me over. I've played NHL 08 for the 360 at a friends and MAN it blowes away any and every NHL game EVER! It's very polished and clean cut. It flows very smoothly and the dekes are much better than last year. The controls will take me a smidge of time to get used to but that is a slight detail that doesn't bother me as long as they don't switch the controls every year.
So back to NHL2K8....the dekes well um yea they suck. Most players don't have high enough attributes to even deke. The Superstar moves also are worthless you have to be on a clear breakaway with at least 5 or 6 steps on the nearest defender to even attempt them. I am also very very agrivated that Erik Johnson is NOT on the St. Louis Blues roster! I know he has yet to make the team but come on he should still be in this game! I'm hoping to check NHL 08 will have him I havn't checked yet. I'm not even gonna say a thing about graphics since I only have the ps2 but I can tell you NHL 08 on 360 is one of the prettiest games on the Box period. They did a very good job with the face mapping also.
Well that's all I'm gonna say cause quite frankly even though it's not that good it's the only hockey I got right now so I'm gonna go back to playin it LOL!

I got NHL 08 last night for the 360, and it's incredible. I love the on the fly AI, and the game is so much smoother. The practice mode (shooting targets like at the all-star game), the skating drill, ect is an excellent addition. The only complaint is that you have to unlock the new jerseys, which is ridiculous.

I don't know, but maybe you should compare the 2 games on the same system rather than old gen vs next gen...jus my 2 cents
I have a PS2, and I have always bought the NHL games when they come out. One year I bought the 2K version and the EA sports version. The EA sports version is the best. I think you just need to go out and buy the EA sports version. You will find that it is so much better!
I have NHL08 for 360 and its insane, love the feel of the game, very realistic. Creating plays, players, teams and the addition of the AHL teams!!!!! !!!!2k8 won't be much of a factor this year, as it was last year

I as well hear this game sucks... I was actually thinking of getting it but I guess i will go for 08 again... can never go wrong with EA anyway.Also sorry to dissapoint but the NHLPA wont allow anyone on to any games if they have never played an NHL game before... they need to at least play 1 game before they can make it on the video games so Erik Johnson wont be on any until next year.
Wait for a review of the XBOX 360 version before you write 2K8 off. In the past, the PS2 and 360 versions have been completely different. Same goes for the EA version - the PS2 version didn't have any of the new features of the 360 version was pretty much the same as the year before. ALWAYS COMPARE TITLES ON THE SAME CONSOLE (or at least the same generation).
I fonally gave in and tried a 2K NHL game this year. I hated it. EA games are the best IMO. I'll be getting NHL 08 for the PS2 shortly. I would have a next gen console, but the wife and kids might want to eat for the next month. Watching me play NHL won't make them feel better about starving. :-)
