Yup, I've decided to stop posting random BS on other boards and voice my opinion out here. In this deep, dark world known as hockey blogging. Anyways, HUGE Leaf fan. HUGE hater of all the good teams. Good teams, being those better than Toronto, or basically, 28 teams.
So, heres my rant about the Leafs. And what I feel they could do.
Sundin. That's it. The blogs done. All I need is that name, and everyone will say something. But let me expand on it.
He's been the talk of hockeybuzz. A lot of people feel he should leave. I don't.
Why should he? Howard Berger said it best, "Sundin Owes The Leafs Nothing".
Nothing. Get it? Good. He doesn't have to waive his no-trade (though its rumoured he already has). He doesn't have to play good for all he cares. He's signed to a multi-million dollar contract, with a NTC. Yet, he still plays his arse off every freaking night. And what does he get out of it. 75% of "LeafsNation" hoping he leaves.
But lets say he does leave. Where though?
Personally I'd like to see this happen.
To San Jose:
Mats Sundin
Nikolai Antropov
Andrew Raycroft
To Toronto:
Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Christian Ehrhoff and/or Matt Carle
Devon Setoguchi
2nd Round Pick and/or 3rd Round Pick
Wishful thinking? Yup. Can you blame me? Theres been too much speculation and tension revolving around the Sundin camp. And honestly, I'm sick of it. Cam't we all just hold our breaths (figuratively speaking) until D-Day. If he;s not traded by then, he' s a Leaf 'til he retires.
Okay, now I'm done.
Whatcha think?
I actually think this isn't a bad scenario. Except the Leafs may be giving up too much in this particular deal. However, the Sharks giving up 2/3 roster defenseman won't happen. But, if this deal went down, I would say it's quite fair. Honestly though, I think the Leafs will get more for Sundin.

Well well well, and if Wilson does that , how long before he and John Jr. are both out of a job. San Jose cannot afford to give up two defenders when it needs a quality Dman to move the puck up ice. I don't see one in your offer. We have abundant forward prospects and can afford to throw in a Pavelski instead of Ehrhoff (who has been our best dman of late), but I think both Vlasic and Carle are untouchable in managements eyes. But we are speculating here, so does Sundin bring SJ the cup this season or not. Not without that Dman I spoke of before, so no that trade does not get it done unless another move is out there that solves that issue too.

I honestly think he's gonna get dealt to Anaheim as a rental. Edmonton's 1st round is on the board, as well as one of the top prospects at the moment (Bobby Ryan) - all that, and they could get Sundin back next season. The Ducks lineup is otherwise solid enough that I doubt they'd want any significant players besides Sundin. With Carter possibly injured and Weight injured/not really clicking in the 2nd line, Anaheim needs a center for Selanne's line *badly* if they want to make a serious bid for back to back cups.Best return for Toronto comes from a deal with Anaheim.
