3-1 Dallas

This was trade deadline hockey. Dallas picked up one of the prizes of the trade deadline, and tonight's game was indicative of that. The piecemeal lineup Dallas had out there tonight is something we likely won't have to see again, but the determination they showed in the third period is something very positive to take away from this game. They were backed into a corner and missing a lot of key pieces, but they still found a way to win. In the 3rd period Dallas took over. More importantly, in the 3rd period Morrow/Ribeiro/Eriksson took over. Your top line has to take over in situations like that, and they did. Excellent win by Dallas tonight, and I can't wait to see the full lineup (without Zubov) on the ice Thursday night.

Lines
1. Morrow Ribeiro Eriksson
2. Hagman Barnes Miettinen
3. Ott Modano Lehtinen
4. Barch Lundqvist Winchester

1. Norstrom Robidas
2. Boucher Jancevski
3. Fistric Daley

1. Turco

Notes:
Nik Grossman took a puck in the face so he was out for the game.
Matt Niskanen is day to day.
Dan Jancevski's wife is expecting so he almost had to miss.
Dallas won it's 40th game of the season. It's the 11th time they've done that since moving to Dallas.

Player of the Game: Loui Eriksson/Mike Ribeiro

Mike Ribeiro set up one of Eriksson's two goals, and hit Lehtinen with a nice pass for his goal. Loui Eriksson also scored unassisted as he skated from his own slot to the Blues slot unmolested to rip a great wrister.
Ribeiro 2 assists, Eriksson 2 goals

Recap: You could tell that Dallas was flat from the first puck drop. The passing was off, the D looked shaky, and things weren't crisp. Jussi Jokinen and Jeff Halpern were on their way to Tampa. Nik Grossman and Matt Niskanen were both out with minor injuires. Topping this list of chemistry blunders was introducing Phillippe Boucher, playing for the first time in 36 games, and Dan Jancevski to the D. It was just an ugly first two periods.

1:31 into the first period Keith Tkachuk caught Turco out of position on the PP and squeezed a puck between his leg and the post. There were 3 good hits in the period. One was by Mark Fistric at the 4:29 mark, one at the 8:20 mark by DJ King on Mattias Norstrom, and the final one by Jamal Mayers on Stephane Robidas at the 14:07 mark. Other than that the action was mixed in the first.
The Marty Turco Adventure Show began at 1:29 of the second period. He had a bad turnover which was fished out by Paul Kariya who brought the puck to the front on the backhand, but at the last minute Turco came through with a no look pokecheck. Dallas got its first real scoring chance at the 8:50 mark when Manny Legace stoned Krys Barch from the slot. Turco came up big about 5 minutes later when he stopped Eric Brewer after a puck went through him and almost into the net. At the end of the period St.Louis had outshot Dallas 16-3.
At the 2:27 mark Dallas began the comeback. Mike Ribeiro threaded a needle across the low slot to hit Loui Eriksson for the game tying goal. Five minutes later Ribeiro hit Lehtinen in the slot to put Dallas up 2-1. Steve Ott would fill David Backes in at the 9 minute mark to be followed up :27 later by a coast to coast goal from Loui Eriksson. That was all Dallas would need. They didn't play a particularly good game, but they still won. They scratched out a win with three excellent goals in the third. On Thursday Dallas will get almost their full playoff roster on the ice so hopefully we will get to see what this new team has.
