As I mentioned in my previous blog not to be surprised if the Blues match the Canucks' offer for David Backes, they did.
Backes remains a Blue after the Blues matched the three-year, $7.5 million offer for the 23-year old winger. It was a smart move by the Blues, because as John Davidson said in an interview here in St. Louis, "Backes is a major part of our youth movement in St. Louis and we expect him to play a huge role as we move forward.”
However, the Canucks were able to lure Ryan Johnson away from St. Louis. The former Blue signs with Vancouver for 2 years, $4 million.

Two great moves by the Blues.
