Although I did enjoy watching the Blackhawks have a great run this year, especially considering I am a huge fan of Patrick Kane, I was still keeping a close eye on the RFA situation that has been playing out over the past several days in hopes that it could benefit the Islanders. I am sure many of you have been doing the same as well. Yes, call me selfish all you want for wanting these players to fall into the UFA pool, but if it happened to Okposo and Bailey, you'd be hoping for the same as well.
For all of those who are unclear about what I am talking about, here is a brief summary: General Manager Dale Tallon had approximately six restricted free agents to deal with this summer...

Good insight. But you have one thing backward: Versteeg will be dealt before Sharp, unless the Hawks get an amazing offer that must include Sharp. He is a much more valuable player than Versteeg.
I agree. In the blog I only state the opinion of media sources. It will definitely be a tough decision between Sharp and Versteeg. To be fair, I think the best all around option would be to trade Barker. He is a great defenseman with plenty of upside still, but they can get value for the $3 million he is worth. Just my opinion. Thanks for reading!
versteeg and sharp= ten times better than baily and poso
Ideally, I'm sure the Hawks would love for someone to take Campbell of their hands but since that's not likely, Versteeg and Barker both have added value since they are under contract for the next three seasons and won't be heading into the uncertainty of RFA again next season. Good post.
Barker should be the one to go.. He is only going to play at the 5 slot.. 3 mil is too much for that. Sharp is a top 6 forward and Versteeg isn't that far behind. Versteeg gives us 3 legit scoring lines. Barker gives us a solid pp d man that is on the slow side and is behind a log jam of d men.
Regarding trades to clear up the hawks cap for next year, i believe Sharp is the odd man out due to the need of a bigger forward to play with Toews/Kane. Im thinking Beach/Buff step it up and make Sharp a trade block candidate. Kris Versteeg (a young Rich Preston in my eyes) should be given a shot due to his penalty killing skills.
Sharp is much better than Versteeg killing penalties.
